Student field trips

Touring Annapolis is a historical and creative way to learn about the one of the oldest state capitals in the country. The Maryland State House is the oldest State House in continuous Legislative use in the United States! Senator Miller and staff are pleased to meet with students for hands on discussion and a tour of the State House. If you would like to schedule a tour for your students, please call us at 410-841-3700 or email us.

Over the years, hundreds of Southern Maryland and Prince George’s school kids accepted Senator Miller’s invitation to visit the Maryland State House during the annual Legislative Session (January – April). Each Legislative Session, as many as 30 school groups join me for a day in their State’s Capital. According to the students, teachers and parents who participated in the program this year, it is an invaluable educational opportunity.

While in Annapolis, students:

  • Attend a working session of the Maryland Senate.
  • Receive an introduction as a class and school to the entire Senate.
  • Receive a class photo taken with myself and other elected officials.
  • Enjoy lunch on the State House’s historic grounds such as Lawyers’ Mall which features a monument to Maryland’s greatest civil rights advocate, US Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Thurgood Marshall.

A day in historic Annapolis provides one of the most educational field trips imaginable. Through the years, Senator Miller has marveled at increased understanding of government and civic responsibility this program has given to so many young Marylanders.

Parents, teachers and administrators can contact my office to arrange a tour today.
